Sports Predictions For 2015

Sports enthusiasts as well as sports analysts are looking forward of what is in store for the sports industry in 2015. There are big hopes and surprises for this year, read the sports experts’ bold predictions:

According to John Jastremski of CBS Sports Radio in New York:

  • Tom Brady will get his Super bowl for the fourth time and third MVP award for the Super Bowl over the defending champion, Seahawks.
  • The Kentucky Wildcats is going to be undefeated all throughout the tournament of the NCAA.
  • In the NBA, San Antonio Spurs will win the championship again and this will be the first of the franchise history to win two straight seasons. Also, Tim Duncan will retire.
  • The New York Mets will make it to the post season, they have not won since 2008 and their first appearance of the postseason since 2006.
Sports Predictions For 2015

For the sports expert Dan Roche of Boston’s WBZ-TV Sports, his prediction:

  • Finally, the Boston Red Sox is going to find their ace for the pitching staff. Right now, the team’s rotation is shaping up with Clay Buchholz, Wade Miley, Joe Kelly, Justin Masterson and Rick Porcello. All of them are solid, good and capable starters but they are not the true aces. So, where will the ace come from? One of the five names can be the ace but the one person that can pull the trigger is Ben Cherington or Cole Hamels of Philadelphia or Jordan Zimmerman of Washington but until now, Ben is very nervous to give up his major prospects. The other possibility is that the ace could come from the market of free agents like James Shields or Max Scherzer. If the team cannot acquire an ace prior to the season or if they have a great start, the ace can be acquired during the deadline of the trade. It could happen sooner or later but it will definitely happen.
Sports Predictions For 2015

Dan Durkin of CBSChicago.com reporter and a contributor of the Boers and Bernstein Show and Speigel and Mannelly Show, his prediction:

  • Adrian Peterson is going to win the rushing crown of 2015 NFL. He only played once in 2014 after the legal troubles that led to his suspension from the charges of child abuse. Peterson has gone a long way to consider retirement and plans to qualify for the 400 meter and 200 meter dashes in the 2016 Olympics. Whether his plans will push through but it is certain that he will be back in top form for 2015. He is fresh from the full season off; there is no denying that he will win the rushing crown of the 2015 NFL with a new team. The question that remains unanswered is which team he will play.

These are some of the sports predictions that sports fans will watch out for in the next twelve months of 2015.

NBA Stock Watch: Andrew Wiggins is Increasing and Dwight Howard is Decreasing

The players whose stocks are increasing are the following:

  • Andrew Wiggins – He is the number one overall pick but he was not even part of the top 200 players in the last two months but has eventually made a comeback with an average of 21.6 points, 1.7 steals, 5.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks. His shooting percentage coming from the field is 49.2% and from the line is 84.4% in the last 7 games which makes him the 17th fantasy player and becomes the third teenager of the NBA history who scored 20 points in his six straight contests. Also, Minnesota is the 6th highest PACE in the NBA and Andrew Wiggins clearly turned the stats after starting a rough start.
  • Rudy Gobert – In the last two games, he has an average of 1.2 steals and 8.0 rebounds and an outstanding 4.7 blocks. This 22-year old basketball player is not a scorer but he quickly established himself as the league’s best rim protectors, in fact, his bpg at 2.18 ranked fifth in this season of the NBA. Currently, Gobert is the 21st fantasy player for a month now who owns 54% of the Yahoo leagues that will surely rise in the coming months.
  • JusufNurkic – He is always called for a foul that shortens his playing time but Nurkic is like the new starting center of Denver when TimofeyMozgov was traded to Cleveland. Last year’s draft, he was the 16th pick and is only 20 years old but averaged significant numbers like 12.0 ppg, 2.5 bpg and 1.0 spg. For the overall ranking of fantasy players in the last two weeks, he is at the 13th spot but only 45% of the Yahoo leagues.
  • Jae Crowder – On Monday, Jae Crowder scored 22 points, the player’s career high together with two blocks and four steals. It is too early to react with just one game but he is a starting player of Boston after Jeff Green was traded including Brandan Wright and Rajon Rondo. Currently, Celtics is the 2nd highest PACE of the league and Crowder has an average of 13.1 points, 2.1 steals, 5.0 boards, 1.4 3pt in every 36 minutes and .7 blocks for this season.

For the player whose stocks went down, the most prominent name is Dwight Howard. Often, it is very difficult to evaluate this player since his points are useful in the league and if you are choosing for a punting strategy, he is even head-to-head. However, despite his claim that he is healthier before the season, he is actually having a worst campaign for his fantasy career. He is only ranked as the 234th player and drops to 286th in the last two months because of the lowest marks of his entire career.

NBA Power Rankings

Have you lost track of the NBA rankings? This article will give you an update:

NBA Power Rankings
  • Atlanta Hawks – The team has a record of 33 wins and 8 losses. Last week, their ranking is number 2 but this week, the Hawks took over the Warriors at the first spot. This achievement is because of the team’s 12 straight wins and 26 victories in the last 28 games.
  • Golden State – The team’s record is 32 wins and 6 losses, they ranked number 1 last week. Analysts say that they are at the elite level but Atlanta’s very slim margin of error caused the drop of the Golden State this week.
  • Memphis – The Grizzlies has a record of 29-11 and ranked 7th last week. Also, the team will celebrate the MLK Day by giving honour to the ex-NBA players Jason Collins, Chauncey Billups and Earl Monroe.
  • Portland – Their record is 30-11 and ranked at the 3rd spot last week. They had three straight losing streak after their scheduled games with the Clippers, San Antonio and Memphis.
  • Houston – Houston Rocket’s record is 28-13 and ranked number 5 last week. This record could move up as Terrence Jones will return after his leg injury since November 3, 2014. The question is: How will Jones’ comeback affect Donatas Montiejunas and Josh Smith?
  • Dallas – The Mavericks’ record is 28-13 and ranked number 6 last week. When Chandler Parsons score is over 20 points, the team’s record is 10-1.
  • Los Angeles – The Clippers has a record of 27-14 and they ranked 9th last week. When they will face the Celtics quad that coach Doc Rivers coached, he will no longer see the players of the 2008 championship team. The last player traded was Rajon Rondo.
  • San Antonio – The team’s record is 26-16 and ranked number 10. The San Antonio Spurs added JaMychal Green, a scoring forward of D-League Austin.
  • Washington – The Wizards won 28 games and lost 13 games which placed them at the 11th spot. Paul Pierce is a veteran forward who has been mentoring his young teammates most especially John Wall.
  • Chicago – The Chicago Bulls has a record of 27 wins and 15 losses. The most interesting game of MLK Day is when the Bulls led by Derrick Rose face off Cleveland led by LeBron James.
  • Phoenix – The Phoenix Suns’ record is 24-18 and they are at the 12th spot. The team won 12 games out of the 16 games they had, averaging 111.4 points. Also, the Suns home record is 8-0.

More Sports Predictions For 2015

Sports experts are giving their predictions for the athletes and leagues for this year, here is more of the bold predictions.

For Chris Fillar, a producer of Baskin & Phelps said:

  • For the 2015 NFL Draft, the first three picks will be quarterbacks. The reason for this is that every NFL team who were limping towards the end of 2014 highly demands signal callers. The position of a quarterback is what makes each team desperate to plan out. Among the top talents are James Winston and Marcus Mariotta but the need to create a solution to the problem will cause an organization to overdraft its third arm just to get one of the top three picks. If the Raiders is one of the top spots, watch out for the trade out as well as WR Amari Cooper will be wearing a Black and Silver in May.

Jeff Phelps, a co-host of the Baskin & Phelps said:

  • Tiger Woods will make a comeback by winning a Major Title in 2015. In 2008, the 32-year old Tiger Woods won his fourteenth Major in the US Open but do the fans think he will win 14 Majors when he will turn 39 in December 2015? After cheating his wife and changing his swing coach thirty-seven times and many more, will there be more for him? Tiger Woods lost his dominant force to becoming a sympathetic figure. However, players of the sport have won majors in their 40s and this is very possible for Tiger as he has plenty of time to work on the title. This year, he will not surpass Jack Nicklaus’ record but he will win a major.
More Sports Predictions For 2015

According to Dustin Fox, a co-host of Bull & Fox:

  • The Cleveland Browns is going to draft another quarterback in the first round. This is his prediction since the Browns is not completely confident with their current situation and will look for another one during the draft to have a solution of the problem. This year, their quarterback Brian Hoyer started strong but lost the coaches’ confidence as well as the front office and he may be out in 2015.

For Marc Holman on the 560 WQAM Sports Radio in Miami, his prediction is:

  • Dan Gilbert is going to sell the Cleveland Cavaliers. As LeBron James and Dan Gilbert are falling out over Cavaliers’ play, the end result of this the selling of the team.

George St-Pierre Has No Plans of UFC Return for 2015

Dana White, the president of the UFC has remained positive that George St-Pierre, the former welterweight kingpin will return to the Octagon one of these days. In fact, White guested on FOX Sports 1’s UFC Tonight, telling the co-hosts Brian Stann and Kenny Florian that he thinks GSP is going to be back in 2015. However, as the year is slipping away, the return of GSP is becoming less and less to happen.

George St-Pierre Has No Plans of UFC Return for 2015

On Thursday, the hopes of the fans and White blew away as the manager of GSP released a statement through MMAJunkie.com. Rudolphe Beaulieu said that GSP has no plans of coming back in 2015. They are working on a couple of projects but not a single one is related to the UFC. GSP’s manager did not give the details of the plans but the MMA fighter was busy making movies in the past years. He starred in the motion picture Captain America in 2014 and currently filming together with Jean Claude Van Damme for the remake of Kick boxer.

Also, GSP spent the rest of 2014 to recover from his injury. After the surgery and recovery, he went back to training but warned the fans that it is not related to his possible return to the UFC. He further said that he always trains as his body needs it because he started when he was 7 years old. Since then, he never stopped, training became part of his life and it does not mean anything. Even if he finally retires, he will still train to be always in shape.

George St-Pierre Has No Plans of UFC Return for 2015

While Dana White would still believe that he can still convince George St-Pierre to get back to the Octagon, more and more fans are also clamouring for his comeback. However, there are no strong indicators as of the moment that we will see the former champion fighting and showing his skills in the Octagon soon.

Bounce Back Candidates for the 2015 Fantasy Baseball

April 5 is going to be the first game of the regular season for the 2015 fantasy baseball. While many are excited for the fresh year, so are the players. To give you an idea of the best bounce back candidates for 2015, here they are:

  1. Chris Davis, BAL – In 2013, Chris Davis hit a record of 53 home runs and an RBI of 138 and in 160 games, he batted .286. These statistics placed him at the third spot of Al MVP’s voting, following Mike Trout and Miguel Cabrera. On the next season, he played 127 games and became missing in action because of an oblique injury and suspended in September. He will surely miss the Opening Day due to the 25-game penalty resulting from his use of Adderall. For this season, it has been projected that Nelson Cruz will be in Seattle but Manny Machado and Adam Jones will remain in the line-up. In the last two seasons prior 2014, Chris Davis has average home runs of 43 with RBI of 111.5 in 149.5 games.
  2. Joey Votto, CIN – This $225 million dollar football player missed 100 games last year because of his left leg strained muscles. Before the last season, he played an average of 150 games and batted more than .290 each year. The home run statistics and RBI totals of Votto are not really strong considering he is a first baseman but his percentage for on-base is a stellar. From 2009-2013, Votto’s OBP was never below .414 and for the 2012 season, he concluded with a record of .474 OBP. In 2014, he had a low career with .390 OBP and .255 batting average, these stats are his worst since he became the Reds’ full-time starter.
  3. Prince Fielder (TEX) – Fielder could be in the second spot since he is the man known being reliable. In fact, from 2009-2013, he only missed one regular season but in May 2014, after having 42 starts, news was released that he needs to undergo a neck surgery. In his last eight straight seasons, he hit 25 home runs and was able to deliver an RBI of 80. For 2015, as he goes back to play, Fielder may accumulate a total of 300 career homer and an RBI of 1000.
  4. Mark Trumbo (ARI) – The first three includes first basemen, at this point, a part-timer makes it at the fourth spot in the name of Mark Trumbo. His home run increased each year starting from 2011-2013 of 29, 32, and 34 respectively. Also, his RBI numbers have increased in the same time span of 87, 95 and 100.

Beware of Fantasy Football’s Free Agency Effect

Every offseason, the fantasy stars are shuffled. Some players move off to the top spot while some are moving to the bottom. Here is how the free agency can affect or change the value of fantasy RBs:

Beware of Fantasy Football’s Free Agency Effect

Demarco Murray, DAL – Until now, there has been no secret that Demarco is the key to a number of fantasy championships despite the injury that showed up in the title week. Also, there is guarantee that Jerry Jones and the rest of the company will have a re-up with Murray in the 2015 season. Without the number 2 of Dallas’ run-blocking O-line, there is a great possibility that Murray may bang up early. In case he will make a comeback to the Cowboys, the major concern will always be his injuries at the same time; the price tag may be too high for the standard drafts.

Mark Ingram, NO – Next season, Ingram will not probably return to the Big Easy and it can cloud his value. The only fear is for him to become part of the committee, as a result, it could limit his value for 2015’s fantasy owners. There is a chance that he may land in a less productive offense; this means that he is pushed down to a number of rounds in the RB3 territory.

Beware of Fantasy Football’s Free Agency Effect

Branden Oliver, SD – Oliver is not going anywhere but RB Ryan Matthews will be on the move. Branden Oliver is Buffalo University’s pride; there will be a positive effect on him in case Matthews moves through free agency as he will easily take over. When the offense of San Diego is going to be retooled, then Oliver can steal the fantasy owners during the middle rounds.

If you are hooked to Fantasy Football, these facts can definitely help you to strategize for the next season.
